    JMP1: BIOS ROM Settings

    (1/2): BIOS Enable
  • Jumpered to Enable the BIOS.
  • Open to Disable the BIOS.
  • (9/10): BIOS Address
  • Jumpered for C800:0.
  • Open for D800:0 (For use with 16-bit VGA cards)
  • JMP4: Floppy Drive Address

  • The PS180-16FN used Advanced RLL recording techniques to allow it to format a drive with 31 sectors per track. Though Perstor claimed a 1:1 interleave, the PS180-16FN generally worked best with a 2:1, or 3:1 interleave, defeating some of it's speed claims. However, the increase in sectors per track from the standard 17 (MFM) or 26 (RLL) did allow a reasonable increase in disk size for the cost. (Considering that hard drives cost $10+/MB at the time.)
